Original Maurice Prendergast watercolor & new work from VT artist Lynn VanNatta

Our post this week features an original watercolor from early 20th century artist Maurice Prendergast, and several beautiful oil-paintings destined for sale and an upcoming show, painted by local VT artist and friend, Lynn VanNatta. Prendergast was a noted early 20th century post-impressionist painter who worked mainly in watercolor and monotype. He exhibited as a member of the Eight – a small group of prominent non-conformist painters of the day whose movement helped to pave the way for the rise of private art exhibitions and important changes in the world of art during that time. The watercolor is an original, provided from the family to its current owner. The work was placed in proper museum-mounting for longevity and fitted behind UV-resistant plexiglass within hand-painted French matting. The piece was set off by installation of a gold fillet. Placed within a beautiful finished-corner gold-leaf frame, all suitable for the time period, there will be years of enjoyment for its owner.

Our oil paintings this week originated from Lynn VanNatta, talented local Vermont artist and friend, who paints impressionistic still lifes and portraits in bold colors with free brush strokes.
