Now Featuring Pottery from Claremont, NH, Ceramist, John Boland
This Week at the Shop – among the works of several local artists available at our Claremont, NH shop, we’re now pleased to offer for sale the beautiful work of ceramist, John Boland, recently relocated to Claremont where he operates Sugar River Pottery from his home studio and is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen. A native of Seattle, Washington, John was raised in a predominantly Asian community. He quickly acquired an appreciation of Asian aesthetics, particularly the ceramic traditions of Japan, Korea, and China. John says that working with clay offers many paths that often converge, and that this creative synthesis captivates and drives him to explore and accept the challenge of pursuing new ideas in his work. One look at these beautiful pieces and we’re sure you’ll agree. John’s beautiful ceramic work has a notable weight and strength that belies the delicate Asian-inspired designs. Strong and food-safe, it functions very well for serving at the dinner table, and also makes a gorgeous artistic statement on its own – not to mention a great gift. We hope you’ll stop by our shop to have a look at John’s beautiful work, and at some of the work available for sale by our other local artists. And as always, we’re ready to help with archival-quality framing and professional art restoration for your favorite, or soon-to-be-favorite pieces. Please contact us today, or stop by our Claremont NH shop, now located at 131 Broad St., Claremont. We’d love to see you! (Appointments appreciated!)
